REPORT FOR TERM 2008/09 (1 JUNE 2008 – 31 MAY  2009)

Objective of the Club

The objective of the Club is to provide a mutually supportive and positive learning environment for PDC staff  to learn and practice communication and leadership skills.  By acquiring communication skill and participating in other leadership-oriented activities, members will learn and practice valuable leadership principles that can be applied at home, at work or in the community.

Year of Review for Term 2008/09

For  Term 2008/09, the club has 20 members.  The executive committee comprises eight(8) club officers as follows :-

The executive committee members are also assisted by 2 committee members namely CC Maimun and CC M. Boopalan.

Activities of the Club

Currently, club meeting is held fortnightly, on Thursday at 3.30 pm @ PDC meeting room.  Club meeting is conducted in English and has on record a total of 18 meetings for year 2008/09.  As a Club, where its role is to aid staff of PDC in their communication and leadership developments, the aspect of networking/interaction with others is also being emphasized.  Members are encouraged to participate in the various events organized by Division N District 51. The events which PDC Toastmasters participated for term 2008/09 are :-

Club Officers Training

This is Goal No.9  in the Distinguished Club Program of  the Toastmasters Club.  In this program a minimum of four club officers must be trained during each of the two training periods.  For term 2008/09, four club officers attended the 2 sessions as follows :-

The PDC Cooperative Berhad (PDCC)  currently  has  100 members and PDC staff are encouraged to join the Cooperative in view of the many benefits provided.

The Cooperative provides financial assistance such as personal loans to ease the members’ financial burden via Public Bank.

PDCC also sends its members to attend courses organised by Suruhanjaya Koperasi to enhance their knowledge in entrepreneurship.

In April 2009, the Cooperative invested in a shoplot developed by PDC Properties Sdn Bhd which will eventually be converted into a mini market to provide job opportunities for members and their children.
